🥎🥎RESULTS🥎🥎 - SENIORS ROUND 17 (JUNIORS BYE for ROUND 14)

Div 5
We put together a strong performance on Sunday to record an 8–2 win over Joondalup. Ewie had a huge day with the bat, going 3-for-3 and driving in two, including a double in the second inning that opened the floodgates. He also singled in both the first and fifth innings. That first inning set the tone, with hits from Ewie, Dek, and Danny bringing in three runs to give us an early lead. The second inning was even bigger, as we added four more – highlighted by Ewie’s double and Beej’s two-run homer to right field – stretching the margin out to 7–1.
Dek was excellent on the mound, pitching a complete game and holding Joondalup to just two runs (one earned) across seven innings. He scattered eight hits, walked only two, and kept their bats under control throughout. As a team, we tallied 10 hits on the day and turned two double plays in the field, showing great composure under pressure. It was a really solid all-round effort – strong pitching, big hitting, and sharp defence – and one we can definitely build on. 🐾⚾
Div 7 Black
We were back on the road again this week to the friendly confines of Rispoli Field for the final instalment of the 2025 Derby.
While initially underdogs, the late pull out of Derby jinx Deano gave the Black Cats a renewed confidence and a bounce in their step.
Solid team batting up and down the lineup, coupled with aggressive (sometimes too aggressive…..Alan) base running kept things moving and the scoreboard ticking over. Special mention to Mooney who had two doubles and a slightly comical ‘Teeball’ triple.
On the defensive side the Black Cats turned in an all-around solid team effort. Alan, Aidan and Doug all had multiple excellent outfield catches and the combination of Mooney, Peeky, Jono and Garry locked down the infield balls. Special mention to Nick who had an awesome game behind the plate again and held the speedy Blue boys in check while keeping nearly all of the somewhat erratic pitches from getting by him.
All in all it was a fun, back and forth game with the Black Cats holding off a late charge from the Blue boys to take a 12-9 win. More importantly the Black Cats also locked up bragging rights for the year winning the series 2-1.
Div 7 Blue
In an all-Carine showdown, the Cats Black and Cats Blue battled hard in a high-scoring Div 7 clash. Both teams opened with two runs in the first, but Black surged ahead with a four-run second inning. Blue fought back with a run in the second and a late six-run rally in the final dig, but it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the steady scoring from Black. Despite being outhit 10–8, Cats Black capitalized on Blue’s five errors and secured a 12–9 victory.
Div 8
Div 8 enjoyed playing at home again and playing one of our best games all year. The scoreline tight all game and also very entertaining with lots of plays going on all day. We got thru six innings and the cats needed 4 to win, which we got with 1 down. A great team win by the boys. Final Score cats 7, balga 6
Div 9
We were the only team travelling this week (I don’t count Div 7 Black travelling to the other dugout) and we went out to Ellenbrook.
Although we managed to score in each innings we were limited by Ellenbrook to only 6 safe hits for the day.
Our fielding however was strong with a number of players making strong outs.
Luke with 2 great catches in the outfield with him having to cover a significant amount of ground to take a catch near foul territory.
Geoff diving to stop all balls and taking a couple of catches was also a highlight.
Bernie playing shortstop for the first time also had a catch and a number of put outs.
Unfortunately the score will reflect a 21-9 loss this week.
