🥎RESULTS🥎 - WEEK ENDING 19TH OCTOBER 2025

19 Oct by Chris (Chridder) Upson

Div 1
What a comeback! 💥 After dominating the diamond during first innings holding Jags scoreless and scoring the first 3 runs, we then found ourselves down 6 to 3 — but this team never quits! Carine were down by one going into their final at-bat, Imogen levelled the score with a gutsy run of three bases on an error in right field. Then, after an intentional walk and a clever trick play on a dropped third strike to load the bases, Annaliese stole the show — literally — sliding home on a passed ball for the walk-off win, 9–8! 🥎

Div 2
Div 2 came up against a hard-hitting Morley who unfortunately flexed their muscle resulting in a mercy loss. Lily was tireless at the plate, while Wyntar took a great reflex catch at third base and Emma H crunched a great right field hit. Tarah also made her maiden pitching appearance in Div 2 and didn’t look overawed. Disappointing result, but as a developing team it gives us plenty of feedback for our next few fixtures 💪

Div 4
nil report

Div 5
The Div 5 cats faced of against the Balcatta Bears in a sunset match. The squad was nearly back at full strength with With Patricia on her swing off and Jess back from Holidays, with Audrey stepping up from U16’s to DP in her debut in the senior leagues.
The cats were full of enthusiasm in the field for the first dig, until the Bears got the bats firing pretty much from the get go.
The cats worked hard in the field all day, but the Bears got the bulk of the damage done in their first at bat. Raiana worked hard in the outfield all game, as well as taking a HPB without flinching. Sarah worked tirelessly at the plate, without a single walk in what became a 5 innings game, and Ciara ended up spooking the runners, combining with Georgia for 3 steal pick off’s at second. Whilst great in the field, the Cats unfortunately unable to get the bats firing consistently in return. It wasn’t to be the Cats day, with Emma re-injuring her calf in the last fielding innings of the game and eventually going down 14-0.

Div 6
Div 6 had a fantastic 22–1 win over the Woodland Wolves, with Nadine impressing in her debut with strong batting and a great catch in right field. Julie took a couple of great catches and hit a brilliant grand slam, while Chillies smashed several hits to the fence. It was an excellent all-round team performance.

Div 7 Thursday
Div 7 had a see sawing game with Wanneroo again on Thursday night. It started with new pitcher Meredith opening with a two run innings. We then batted well to score 11 runs in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately then Wanneroo managed to pull back 9 runs in the second to tie the scores and hold us scoreless. A change in pitcher to Denise got us out of the second innings and managed to hold them scoreless at the top of the third. Scoring 2 runs in the third allowed us to get over the top and win 13-11. Denise with the player of the day for her relief pitching and and super hit that was caught exceptionally by the pitcher.

Div 7 Saturday
Div 7 lost a close game after 4 innings on Saturday in their second game of the week.
In a low scoring game, scores were level after two innings at 1 each.
Home runs to Meredith and Denise as lead offs in separate innings were the highlight.
Unfortunately Vikings managed to come over the top of us to win in the end 8-7.
Denise with several multi base hits, and excellent pitching earnt the award for this game.

U16s
What a fantastic game from our team this week! Super proud of every single player, everyone contributed to our 11–5 win over Morley, making it a real team effort.
Some highlights including Alysia’s home run to RF, Mia nailed a perfect bunt to advance the runners (all that practice last season paying off!) and Stella put two balls in play in her second ever game – awesome effort! Tarah and Kelsie wete solid with the bat all day with Tarah coming in to close the game strong and Kels catching well all game.
To top it off, Kelsie and Audrey pulled off some sneaky eye signals and teamwork to catch the runner napping at 1st with a 2–3 out to end the game in style.
Player of the Week: Audrey! She pitched all but the final innings with confidence and control and went 3/3 in the box – twice as lead-off. An outstanding all round performance!
Well done team, your coaches are so proud of your efforts!

U14s Black
The junior black cats were back for their second game up against Woodies. The cats played a tight game, with all players eventually getting bat to ball, and making some excellent plays in the field. Elsie again combined with Mya for a solid effort from the middle, before Kayleigh made her second appearance ever in the centre, and taking a full stretch pop fly catch and still managing to stay on her feet. The ‘coach pitch’ rule, introduced this season for the Juniors continues to show promise, giving not only good opportunity for batters to get bat on ball, encouraging not only the pitchers and but also the fielders remain engaged and giving an opportunity to make plays.
In a really close game, the Cats couldn’t quite get it done, going down 6-5.

U14s Blue
BYE – no game.

Vets Black
Vets Div 2 Black played a friendly but competitive game against neighbours Woodlands but unfortunately came out second best with a 10-3 loss.
Our bats in the first innings allowed us to score 3 runs but then with a pitching change from Woodlands the hits and scoring dried up.
Their hitting was also slow to start with some good fielding and minimum errors from us but they managed to score a few in each innings.
A change in our pitching to Chris U had immediate results in the last and a catch in the outfield earlier meant that he earnt our voucher this week

Vets Blue
Div 2 Carine Cats Blue Vets vs Balga Bandits.
It was a solid night on the diamond for the Carine Cats Blue Vets, taking on the Balga Bandits. Unfortunately the boys went down 9 to 5.
Mike pitched the whole game, staying strong right to the end. Pete was steady as ever behind the plate, calling the game like a pro. Even Ted got the legs moving out in right field — playing like a young man again! Adam rolled an awesome double that got the dugout fired up.
The bats started a little slow, but the boys finished strong and kept the energy high. Spirits were great all night with plenty of laughs and good banter — just the way Vets softball should be.

Go Cats! 🐾💙
