Div 1
Nil report.

Div 2
Div 2 came up against a hot Morley team, who rushed out to an early big lead before the Cats managed to tighten things up up and get the bats talking towards the end. A nice double play from Emma H, solid work in the outfield from Webb and Kirsty, and our Whitty’s winner Summer batted 1000 to really stand up. Cats going down 18-3.

Div 5
The Cats Women’s Div 5 side showed real grit this week, welcoming Emma and Jess back from injury in a limited capacity to help take on the Pirates. After a quiet start at the plate with a quick three up, three down, the Cats found their rhythm in the second inning, pushing six runs across before the Pirates tightened their fielding and shut down further scoring. Defensively, the Cats matched the Pirates’ early pressure, returning the favour with their own three up, three down in the first. The Pirates scraped one run back in the second and capitalised on a couple of brief wobbles in the third to add four more, closing the gap. With the game on the line in the bottom of the fourth and bases loaded, the Cats held firm with some composed, disciplined fielding to keep the Pirates scoreless and secure a hard-fought 6–5 win. Standout of the game was Anna, whose sharp reflex catch at shortstop earned her this week’s Whitfords voucher.

Div 6
Div 6 came out clawing on Saturday, taking down top-of-the-ladder UWA in a ripper contest that never let up. Julie set the tone early with a booming home run, and Gemma turned left field into a personal highlight reel—pulling off a three-up, three-down inning after UWA decided to test her arm three times in a row. Spoiler: they shouldn’t have. Pam was rock-solid on the mound, tossing consistent strikes all game, while Cheryl came out swinging with a string of clean, confident hits. And in peak Carine Cats spirit, Chillies pushed through a calf injury late in the game to cross the plate as the winning run. Every player stepped up, every play mattered, and the whole team earned this one. A brilliant, well-deserved win.

Div 7
Division 7 had a tight come from behind win against Vikings for the second time in just over a week. Trailing 7-4 after the first three innings they managed to pull even in the fourth and come over the top in the fifth to win 11-10. Great pitching from Nise for the whole game was ably supported by the fielding of the whole infield with Luigi having 2 out outs and 6 assists and Knobby with 3 put outs and 2 assists. Batting was strong across the board with a home run to Knobby and multiple hits to Steph, Nise and Fi. Steph with the go ahead run and 3 from 4 with the bat was this weeks voucher winner.

U16s
Huge week for our team with execution of what we’ve been doing at training. We started with a 3 up, 3 down first inning, and Audrey was outstanding on the mound. She was asked to focus on low pitches to draw ground balls - she nailed the brief, staying composed, only giving up three outfield hits all game, and her change-ups are soooo close to landing. Our confidence in taking the pitcher to full count, bunts, fake bunts and pulling out of bunts was outstanding. Everyone got on successfully at least twice. When asked to bat out the last 15 minutes focusing on moving runners one base at a time, our girls executed it perfectly. The composure of these young ladies is far beyond their years - not flinching each time Jags came at us, backing each other offensively and defensively to take the win 16-10. Our girls are really coming along, we are so very proud of them. Stella had a blinder, going 3 from 3, including a shot to shallow centre, plus two clean stops at 2nd and an out. earning herself the iPlay voucher again!

U14s Black
The U14 black cats headed into this week with only eight players and came up against the Sirens, one of the stronger teams in the competition. Despite the short bench, the group put in a solid defensive performance and worked hard right through the game. Their fielding held up well under pressure and there were some smart plays, but the Sirens’ consistent contact and strong hitting proved difficult to contain across the innings. Offensively, our batters found it tough adjusting to the Sirens’ quicker pitching, struggling to generate solid contact or build any momentum on the bases. In the end, we weren’t able to push any runs across and went down 11–0.

Vets Black
The Vets Black team have decided to just “take it easy” over the last few games and that’s reflective in this weeks score line.
A good first pitching effort for out new member Wazza with a heap of strikes in the zone. Unfortunately, the top-of-the-ladder Jags were just too consistent on the bat and gave the Cats a hell of a scratching!
Now, we lick our wounds and try again next week. 😱
