🥎RESULTS🥎 - WEEK ENDING 21st DECEMBER 2025

21 Dec 2025 by Chris (Chridder) Upson

Div 1
The team secured an impressive 11–8 victory over the Woodlands Wolves, setting the tone early with a fast and confident start. The whole lineup was aggressive in the batting box, attacking good pitches and putting constant pressure on the Wolves’ defence. That intent paid off as we jumped out to a 6–2 lead after the first two innings. With disciplined hitting and aggressive baserunning they kept the Wolves scurrying.
Defensively, the team delivered key plays at crucial moments. In the fourth innings Scarlett made a sharp catch behind second base to shut down a potential rally, followed up by Kelsie showing great awareness and arm strength by throwing out a runner attempting to steal second base. The Wolves continued to push, but our ability to respond and execute in the field helped us maintain control and close out a well-earned 11–8 win.

Div 2
Div 2 hobbled through to the Christmas break, coming up against a polished Woodlands’ outfit in a Friday night fixture. We gave it everything we had, but went down. Looking forward to Santa leaving everyone some new body parts under the tree, so we can return after the break all fit and injury free!!

Div 4
R19 (Thursday). Div 4 returned to playing under lights with a top of the table clash against Demons on Dia 1.
Our bats were hot as we jumped out to an early lead with 7 runs in the first innings. Demons fought back and drew level at 7-7 , then the cats added another 5. Going into the 4th Demons needed 5 runs to make us bat again but we dismissed them with another run added. Div4 cats took outright 1st place with the win. 12-7

R12 ( Saturday) div 4 was faced against Demons again, and again our bats were on fire going up 8-1 after 2 innings. The second half of the game was even with both sides scoring 9 a piece. Cats taking out the double win against Demons. 17-10. Holding 1st spot on the ladder over the Christmas break.

Div 5
In their final game before the Christmas break, the Div 5 Cats took on second-placed Woodlands Wolves in a balmy 5pm fixture on D2 and set the tone immediately. The Cats’ bats were alive from the first pitch, highlighted by a textbook bunt from Charlee that stunned the Wolves’ defence, followed by smart, aggressive base running to bring six runs home in the opening inning. Defensively, the Cats tried a new look with Alysia starting in the middle, well supported by Anna at shortstop with two fly-ball catches, limiting the Wolves to three.
The pressure continued in the second and third innings. Charlee laid down her second perfect bunt of the game as the Cats added four more, while the defence produced some sharp work, including clean outs involving Alysia, Sarah, Anna, and a strong throw from Tennille in left to Charlee at second. Despite a brief third-inning wobble, the Cats continued to build their lead, adding three more runs and steadying defensively after a pitching change, keeping the Wolves in check despite a couple of errors.
Heading into the fourth with time ticking down, the Cats added another two through heads-up base running. The Wolves, needing ten to win, came out swinging and pushed two quick runs across before the game was spectacularly sealed. A blistering line drive was hit straight at Charlee, who made an outstanding reflex catch, moved to put out the runner at second, and then fired to Lilly at third to complete a remarkable triple play—ending the game in emphatic style. The Cats closed out a convincing 15–8 victory!

Div 6
On Thursday night Div 6 took on the Vikings and came away with a gritty two-run win — with a full batting innings to spare 💪🏼
Jools was on fire with two home runs (one possibly assisted by several Vikings errors 😏), while Gemma smashed a cracking homer of her own, with so much time to spare she could’ve walked home from third. Pam delivered her usual consistent pitching, backed up by phenomenal stops behind the plate from Kylie, which shut down almost all steal attempts — and the one brave enough to try got tagged out. Take that.
There were great catches right across the field, with a sensational grab from Jo in the Vikings’ final attempt to mount a comeback. Not to be.
We had them this time 💪🏼🥎

Div 7
Div 7 had a roller coaster victory tonight. After starting by batting well and scoring 10, we were in front from the start especially when they only scored 1 with Knobby pitching well. But then the wheels fell of for a while. They managed to get us out with no addition to the score in the second while they bought their bats out and scored 9 to even the scores. The cats managed to score 3 in the final innings on some good disciplined batting and running. Luigi then came in to pitch for the first time this year and managed to hold them to 1 run so a 13-11 victory to the Cats. Voucher went to Watto for great hitting and running. Last weeks voucher went to Hannah for her improved batting and managing to get home almost every time she gets on base

U16s
With half the team playing the night before across Div 1 and Div 2, our girls put in a steady, consistent and whole team effort to win 8-4 against Morley on Saturday morning and finish at the Christmas break 2nd on the ladder.
Our offence was a real highlight with the girls really honing in on what it means to be a team batter and to push each other around the bases, one pitch at a time.
This week’s iPlay voucher went to Katy whose confidence in batting is improving each week with her putting solid ground balls into play.
On behalf of our team, we wish Kelsie all the very best in her U16 campaign at Nationals being played at Mirrabooka Jan 13-Jan 18, you got this kiddo!

U14s Black
With the help of a couple of Vikings fill-ins to make it an 8-a-side game, an under-manned Black Cats team took to the field for their final pre-Christmas match. The Cats started strongly, scoring six runs in the opening innings, with Elsie delivering a steady pitching performance supported by sharp fielding to limit the Vikings to just two runs. Strong outfield hitting from Mya and multiple home runs from Elsie, including a grand slam, were key highlights as the Cats continued to apply pressure at the plate.
The Vikings responded with a strong innings of their own, including a home run to right field, but the Cats showed good discipline in the batter’s box to collectively add another six runs. A late highlight saw Lola make her juniors pitching debut, combining with Nathan and Bronte in the field for a quick out at first before recording her first strike-out before the clock ran out and the scores reverted. Despite being under strength, the Cats showed great effort and teamwork to secure a 12–8 win.
iPlay voucher winners this week were Lola and Bronte for their strong fielding and disciplined batting.

U14s Blue
U14 Blue took on Morley Red this week. Apart from the first innings where we only scored 2 runs to their 6, the rest of the game was close. Peggy started us off pitching and had a K2 (swinging strike out) on one of their batters. Sophie was excellent behind the plate, showing a lot of promise with her great blocking and takes. Ava batted well with two safe hits for the game. All the kids are showing a lot more confidence with their base running resulting a lot more steals around the diamond. Our I-play award goes to Charlie- another new catcher who was moving well behind the plate for our second pitcher.

Vets Black
The boys needed to do an amount of gritting teeth and digging deep to pull off a low scoring win against the Morley Eagles.
Excellent pitching all night by the new boy Wazza combined with some sharp fielding, saw us keep the Eagles scoreless for a couple of innings. The bats worked just well enough to grab the runs we needed to pull off a 5-3 win. We don't get a lot of 'W's so we'll assume this was our Christmas miracle!

Vets Blue
